How It Works
TerraCycle® is a highly-awarded and globally recognised recycling company that develops zero waste solutions for difficult-to-recycle waste streams.
WHAT IS A ZERO WASTE BOX™?
A Zero Waste Box™ is a complete and convenient solution which includes the storage, shipping and recycling of a particular type of waste that isn't currently recycled through local councils or traditional recycling facilities.
- SELECT | Choose the box size and category that best fits your needs
- COLLECT | Fill your box with the accepted waste streams
- RECYCLE | Using the pre-paid UPS shipping label (included in your purchase), send your filled box to TerraCycle for recycling
WHAT IS INCLUDED
- Zero Waste Box (used for collecting and shipping)
- Pre-paid return shipping label (affixed to your Box)
- Complete processing and recycling of the waste.
- Customer Support service to address any questions or concerns you may have.
Please only fill the box with the accepted waste stream.
Unaccepted waste: we cannot collect batteries, pressurised canisters, broken glass, medical waste and hazardous waste (sharp, flammable, reactive, corrosive, ignitable, toxic, infectious or pathogenic) which presents a danger to the environment, or to people.
The waste is sorted into categories and repurposed into new products instead of being sent to incineration or landfill.
IMPORTANT DELIVERY RESTRICTIONS
This service is only available in mainland Britain. We don’t operate in Northern Ireland, British Overseas Territories, Crown Dependencies (Guernsey Island, Jersey Island, the Isle of Man) and the Channel Islands.

Read the information below for specific information on each type of waste and how it is recycled.
METALS | Metals are separated by specific type and smelted into ingots for re-use.
PLASTICS | Plastics are separated by number and melted down. From there, most of our plastics are turned into small pellets that can be moulded and extruded into unique shapes and products.
ORGANICS | Organics are used in industrial and commercial fertilizers.
FIBRES | Fibres will be hydropulped to separate out coatings (like wax and plastics). The separated fibre will be recycled into new paper products, or composted if recycling is not possible. The resulting plastics will be recycled into plastic polymers.
FABRICS | Fabrics are separated by material and are recycled, upcycled, or re-used as appropriate.
GLASS | Glass is cleaned and sorted by colour for processing. It is then crushed and melted to be used in new glass products or other applications.
CIGARETTE WASTE | Cigarette waste is shredded and separated into plastics, papers, and organics.
